IN BRIEF: BP starts Atlantis facility expansion in Gulf of Mexico

BP PLC - London-headquartered oil and gas company - Launches 'Atlantis Major Facility Expansion' project in the Gulf of Mexico. Atlantis, which has been in production for almost two decades, is located approximately 150 miles south of New Orleans. BP says the expansion project adds two new subsea water injection wells to help increase the pressure of targeted reservoirs, in order to unlock additional barrels and extend Atlantis' production life. BP calls Atlantis one of its "flagship US offshore assets". Says the project adds approximately 10,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day of gross peak annualised average production, or approximately 5,000 boe/d net to BP. Company also notes that it recently sanctioned the new Kaskida and Tiber production platforms, which it expects to add 160,000 barrels per day in new oil production capacity for the offshore US region by the end of 2030.
