IN BRIEF: Tharisa picks Jacques Breytenbach as chief finance officer

Tharisa PLC - Cyprus-headquartered platinum miner - Appoints Jacques Breytenbach as chief finance officer designate, with effect from May 1, and as CFO from August 1. Breytenbach will succeed Michael Jones, who will retire, with effect from July 31. Jones’ retirement was flagged early in February. Breytenbach’s appointment provides for a ‘comprehensive’ handover period to ensure continuity and stability within the finance function. Breytenbach served as the CFO of Petra Diamonds Ltd. Prior to this, he was finance manager at Anglo American Platinum Ltd, now Valterra Platinum Ltd. He recently served as a non-executive director of Afrimat Ltd.

In a separate filing, Afrimat says Breytenbach has resigned as a non-executive director, with effect from Tuesday. He had served on the board since June 2025. ‘Mr Breytenbach has stepped down from the board of the company to pursue an alternative opportunity in the mining industry,’ Afrimat says.
