IN BRIEF: Tharisa secures early wheeled renewable energy supply
Tharisa PLC - Paphos, Cyprus-headquartered platinum miner in South Africa and Zimbabwe - Says its operating subsidiary Tharisa Minerals has received its first wheeled renewable energy from Etana Energy last month. Expects the initial supply to meet about 10% of the Tharisa Mine's monthly electricity demand. Says the use of wheeled renewable energy will decrease energy costs and reduce scope two greenhouse gas emissions. Under the long-term power purchase agreement signed in July 2024, Etana Energy is forecast to supply about 70% of Tharisa Minerals' current electricity demand, including wheeled solar from the first quarter of 2027 and further wheeled wind later in 2027. Green energy supports Tharisa's target of a 30% reduction in emissions by 2030, it says.
