Capita wins three-year extension to NHS England primary care contract

Capita PLC on Monday said it has agreed a three-year extension to its contract with National Health Service England to deliver the Primary Care Support England contract.

The London-based outsourcing and professional services company said the first 18 months of the extension is worth £82.5 million and will be followed by a further 18 month transition assistance period.

The company said it will continue to provide digital, logistical and support services for primary care including general, dental, ophthalmic and pharmacy practices.

Capita Public Service Chief Executive Officer Richard Holroyd said: ‘We are proud to deliver digital, logistical and support services for England’s primary care organisations. For the past decade we have delivered complex digital transformation projects, driven efficiencies and reduced costs for the NHS, as well as modernising primary care support services through the launch of the self-serve PCSE Online portal, which provides transparency, data validation and automation.’

Shares in Capita were up 5.8% to 215.80 pence in London on Monday afternoon.
