Corpus Resources swings to interim pretax loss, evaluates acquisitions
Corpus Resources Plc swung to a pretax loss in the first six months of 2026 and said it was evaluating new opportunities in oil and gas assets.
The London-based natural resources investment company reported a pretax loss of USD246,413 for the first six months of 2026, compared with a profit of USD3.9 million a year earlier. The company said the 2025 profit arose largely from an accounting gain due to debt write-backs, while it said the loss this year was due to administrative, professional and listing-related expenses.
The company's cash balance rose to USD266,343, compared to USD37,172 at December 31. It said it would "require additional funding to meet its continuing operating and listing costs and to progress any potential transaction."
Corpus Resources added that it was evaluating opportunities in oil and gas assets where execution risk is lower, including producing and near-production assets, non-operated interests alongside established operators, and assets with existing infrastructure and established routes to market.
The company said it would favour acquisitions it can fund in stages.
Corpus Resources shares closed 6.9% lower at 0.012 on Monday in London.
