EARNINGS AND TRADING: Cooks sales up; Amcomri profit rises, debt falls

The following is a round-up of earnings and trading updates by London-listed companies, issued on Wednesday and not separately reported by Alliance News:

----------

Angling Direct PLC - Norwich, England-based fishing tackle and equipment retailer - Expects to report revenue of £56.4 million in the six months to July 31, up 5.1% from £53.6 million a year ago. First half UK sales climb 6.9% on-year, or 2.9% like-for-like against a strong prior year comparator. Europe sales fall 30%. Says strong cash flow generation creates additional scope for buybacks under the outstanding £1.4 million on its existing authorisation. Remains confident in achieving annual market expectations. Official half year results will be published October 13. "Despite the well documented challenges to the UK consumer environment, alongside a UK wide drought impacting fish and fisheries I am pleased to report that we have delivered a resilient start to the year, making further progress against our recently upgraded medium-term objectives and gaining further share of the UK angling market," says CEO Steve Crowe.

Nanoco Group PLC - Runcorn, England-based nanomaterials developer - Reports preliminary results for its financial year to July 31. Revenue is in line with expectations at £11.3 million, while adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation beats market expectations at £6.1 million. Nanoco says it is on track to reach all milestones in the first year of its three-year joint development agreement with the first Asian Chemical customer, with volumes expected to more than double next year "from a relatively small base". Additionally, says discussions are underway on next steps with a second Asian chemical customer, following a small programme extension in June 2026. Engagment is ongoing with "a number of other potential customers to secure further JDAs or material supply contracts, primarily in sensing," company says. The shareholder consultation started in June is ongoing.

Amcomri Group PLC - London-based specialist engineering services and industrial manufacturing group - Reports first half revenue of £42.4 million, up 33% from £31.8 million a year ago and adjusted Ebitda of £4.7 million, up 9.3% from £4.3 million, both ahead of market expectations. Profit after tax jumps to £7.3 million from £1.5 million. Net debt declines to £2.9 million from £11 million a year ago. Amcomri will release full interim results on September 15. "We have continued to execute our strategic priorities, strengthening our Embedded Engineering business through recent acquisitions and making good progress in delivering our 'Buy, Improve, Build' strategy. We continue to see attractive acquisition opportunities in niche sectors with potential for operational improvement, and the proceeds from the sale of Premier Limpet provides additional flexibility to support our acquisition strategy," says Siobhan Tyrrell, finance chief.

----------

Cooks Coffee Company Ltd - New Zealand-based coffee chain - Systemwide UK and Ireland store sales climb 14% on-year in its financial first quarter ended June 30. In the UK alone, systemwide sales rise 15%, or 2.1% LFL. In Ireland, sales rise 12%, or 1.8% like-for-like. Cooks had 84 stores in the UK and 26 in Ireland at June 30, up 15% from 96 stores at the same point last year. Over the 12 months to June 30, LFL sales increase 1.4% in the UK and 2.7% in Ireland. "The continued positive LFL performance across both markets, alongside the contribution from new stores, was achieved against a backdrop of unusually hot weather in May and June. This demonstrates the resilience of the Esquires brand and the effectiveness of the Group's franchise model, with underlying sales growth being maintained alongside continued network expansion," company says, adding it "continues to pursue its strategy of expanding the Esquires brand across the UK and Ireland and is evaluating a number of additional opportunities for new stores."

----------

Digital 9 Infrastructure PLC - investor in internet infrastructure, such as data centres and subsea fibre - Net asset value per share drops to 8.6 pence at June 30 from 9.3p on December 31. First half pretax loss narrows to £3.4 million from £14.2 million a year ago. Revenue falls to £648,000 from £11.1 million. Chair Eric Sanderson says: "This has been a milestone period for D9. We returned £30 million to shareholders through our first compulsory redemption since the wind-down began, funded by the disposals completed last year, the repayment of the RCF and the early settlement of the Verne Global earn-out. With two assets remaining, Arqiva and Elio Networks, our focus is firmly on realising value in a disciplined way. We will not chase an accelerated sale at the expense of value, but we remain alert to opportunities to return capital to shareholders as quickly as circumstances allow."

Rockfire Resources PLC - London-based mining firm targeting metals and critical minerals, with assets in Australia and Greece - Provides update on its 100%-owned Molaoi zinc deposit in Greece. Says hole HMO-020 has returned multiple high-grade zinc and germanium intersections. Drilling is underway to upgrade the inferred resource to indicated resource status. Drilling is temporarily suspended, however, during the summer vacation period. Comminution tests are in progress to determine the appropriate equipment for use at Molaoi, as well as power expectations, Rockfire says. Additionally, point load compressive tests are underway. This is "to determine the ability of the ground to withstand compressive forces once a void is created during underground mining," the company says. Highlights from hole HMO-020 include: 2.34 metres at 6.2% zinc, 20.2 grammes per tonne gold, 15.1 grammes per tonne germanium and 0.3% lead from 215.60 metres downhole depth; 2.86m at 4.1% zinc, 24.5g/t gold, 9.3g/t germanium and 1.2% lead from 240.04m downhole depth; and 2.23m at 5.2% zinc, 24.4g/t gold, 4.1g/t germanium and 0.7% lead from 248.12m downhole depth. "The Company is investigating metallurgical testing options and is in discussion with several groups to conduct flotation tests, smelting of a zinc ingot and production of a germanium product as part of our feasibility pathway," says Chief Executive David Price.

Scancell Holdings PLC - Oxford-based pharmaceutical company focused on cancer immunotherapies - UK Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory agency grants clinical trial authorization for a phase 3 registrational trial of Scancell's lead ImmunoBody iSCIB1+ in patients with advanced melanoma. "The primary endpoint of [progression-free survival] is designed to support an accelerated approval with overall survival as the secondary endpoint, intended to support an application for full approval. The Phase 3 design was informed by the Phase 2 SCOPE trial in which iSCIB1+ in combination with ipilimumab and nivolumab demonstrated sustained PFS of 77% at 22 months, and OS of 87.4% at 18 months," company says.

Oberon Investments Group PLC - London-based investment management, wealth planning and corporate broking - Raises £1.4 million before expenses through the issue of 68.8 million shares at 2.1 pence each. Says the fundraising received "strong support" from existing and new investors, with £400,000 subscribed by existing VCT and institutional investors and around £300,000 by Oberon staff and directors. Non-executive director Jonathan Eddis and Chair Michael Cuthbert each subscribe for 476,190 shares. Following admission, Eddis will hold 476,190 shares, 0.05% of the enlarged share capital. Cuthbert will hold 1.5 million shares, 0.17%. "The proceeds will further strengthen the group's financial position and provide additional working capital as Oberon continues to execute its growth strategy," Oberon says.

Caspian Sunrise PLC - mining company focused on Kazakhstan's oil and gas sector - Says all four of its rigs are currently in use. At Deep Well 803 on its BNG Contract Area's Yelemes Deep structure, testing is underway at the Lower Permian P1f (Filippovian) horizon. Perforates a 10 meter interval at depths between 4,071 and 4,081 meters. A further 12 meter interval at depths between 3,911.5 and 3,964 meters will be perforated. Both intervals tested in the coming days, and the results announced. After testing the rig will move to spud Deep Well 701, which has a planned total depth of 3,500 meters. Drilling at 701 reaches 1,800 meters with nine inch casing being set. Drilling is expected to reach the planned total depth early in the fourth quarter. The next well to be drilled on the Yelemes Deep structure is Deep Well 701, with a planned total depth of 5,000 meters. Drilling is expected to be completed by the end of the year. At Block 8, the P2 Well on the Sholkara structure is producing 150 barrels of oil per day. At West Shalva, work continues to improve flow rates. Caspian says oil produced to date has a higher than expected paraffin content, restricting its natural flow. The well is producing 50 bopd. Elsewhere, says regulatory approvals have been received for its USD700,000 acquisition of Tau-Cen LLP. Expects to publish its 2025 results in the coming weeks, as it has gained "sufficient access" to financial information on the MJF and South Yelemes structures.
