Endeavour Mining says production suspended at Mana after subsidence
Endeavour Mining PLC on Monday said underground mining at its Mana gold mine has been suspended after an access ramp leading to the open pit partially subsided.
The London-based mining company said the incident took place on Wednesday last week, restricting access to the Dangouna and Aviera underground portals at the Mana mine in Burkina Faso.
No one was harmed during the incident, Endeavour said, and emergency protocols were initiated immediately, which included the evacuation of all underground workers.
As a result, underground mining activities at all three active underground portals at Mana have been suspended to allow for detailed geotechnical analysis and ramp remediation work to be assessed, the company said.
Endeavour said it remains on track to achieve its 2026 group production and all-in-sustaining-cost guidance.
Further, it is actively evaluating options to mitigate the impact of the incident on Mana's production, including the restart and acceleration of mining activities in the Wona portal, which remains accessible, and other near-mine open pits.
An update on the ongoing geotechnical analysis and details on the remediation plan will be provided with third-quarter results on Thursday next week.
Shares in Endeavour Mining were down 1.6% at 3,675.00 pence each in London on Monday morning.
