IG appoints Andrew Barron to replace Mike McTighe as board chair
IG Group Holdings PLC on Tuesday announced it appointed Virgin Media Ltd alumn Andrew Barron as board chair designate and non-executive director with immediate effect.
He will take the board chair seat once the company will receive all regulatory approvals to do so.
The London-based trading platform replaces Mike McTighe, who served as board chair since 2020, a few months behind schedule. McTighe announced his intention to step down at the end of last year back in September, but then agreed to stay until a successor was in place.
Barron has a 25-year operating career in technology, media, and telecommunication. He has executive experience matured at Virgin Media and Modern Times Group MTG AB, on top of having had senior roles at Walt Disney Co.
He is currently holding two non-executive director positions at Openreach Ltd and Verisure Services UK Ltd, as well as being senior operating partner at Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners LP.
‘I am delighted to have been appointed as board chair designate and as a non-executive director of IG at such an exciting time for the business. IG has established an attractive position in global financial technology and the potential to drive further growth and transformation is significant,’ he said.
IG shares were up 0.8% to 1,346.00 pence each on Tuesday morning in London.
