Renishaw expects annual profit to be above expectations

Renishaw PLC on Friday said it expects annual profit to beat expectations after delivering "record" fourth-quarter revenue, driven by strong demand from the semiconductor, electronics, aerospace and defence sectors.

The Gloucestershire, England-based provider of manufacturing technologies, analytical instruments, and medical devices said it expects revenue of around £243 million for the fourth quarter ended June 30, up 27% from a year earlier and 18% higher than the third quarter.

The company said growth accelerated throughout the financial year, with demand remaining strong from customers in the semiconductor and electronics manufacturing equipment sector as well as the aerospace and defence sector.

For the full year, Renishaw expects revenue of around £815 million, up 14% from £713.0 million the previous year.

The company said all three of its business segments delivered growth, with particularly strong performances from its Specialised Technologies and Position Measurement divisions.

Renishaw expects adjusted operating profit of around £152 million, up from £112.3 million, and adjusted pretax profit of around £167 million, up 31% from £127.2 million the prior year.

Renishaw will report full-year results on September 23.

The company's shares were up 5.2% to 5,203.44 pence each on Friday afternoon in London.
