Seplat Energy appoints Tony Elumelu to board after M&P exit
Seplat Energy PLC on Thursday announced changes to its board following the recent sale of a major shareholding.
The Nigeria-focused energy supplier said Olivier Cleret de Langavant has resigned as a non-executive director with immediate effect. De Langavant joined the board in January 2020 as a nominee of Etablissements Maurel et Prom SA, which recently agreed to sell its 20% stake in Seplat Energy to a consortium including Heirs Holdings entities.
Seplat Energy also said it has appointed Tony Elumelu as a non-executive director, effective immediately.
Elumelu is the founder and chair of Heirs Holdings, a diversified investment company with interests across energy, power, banking, insurance, technology, real estate, hospitality and healthcare. He also serves as chair of United Bank for Africa, Heirs Energies and Transcorp Group.
Chair Udoma Udo Udoma thanked De Langavant for his contribution to the board, saying his technical expertise and strategic insight had been instrumental in supporting the company’s progress over the past six years.
Udoma added that Elumelu’s appointment brings extensive investment and leadership experience to the board and is expected to support Seplat Energy’s strategic objectives and long-term value creation.
Seplat Energy shares were down 1.3% at 328.13 pence in London on Thursday afternoon.
