Vodafone brings former Metro CEO Olaf Koch to board

Vodafone Group PLC on Friday announced the appointment of Olaf Koch to its board, subject to shareholder approval at the upcoming annual general meeting.

The Berkshire, England-based telecommunications provider noted that Koch was the chief executive officer of Dusseldorf, Germany-based cash-and-carry store operator Metro AG from 2012 to 2021.

His appointment will be effective following the conclusion of Vodafone’s AGM on July 28.

Vodafone Chair Jean-Francois van Boxmeer said: ‘I am delighted to welcome Olaf Koch to Vodafone’s board. His extensive experience of leading complex transformations and deep knowledge of the German market will be a valuable addition as the group continues to execute its strategy.’

Vodafone shares fell 2.8% to 112.80 pence each on Friday morning in London.
