Whitbread adds Land Securities CEO Mark Allan to board

Whitbread PLC on Thursday said the chief executive of Land Securities Group PLC will join its board as an independent non-executive director on October 1.

The Dunstable, England-based Premier Inn owner said Mark Allan also will join the board's audit and nomination committees.

Allan has led LandSec, a London-based commercial property developer, since April 2020. Before that, he was chief executive of St Modwen Properties and previously spent 14 years at Unite Group PLC, including a decade as chief executive.

Whitbread Chair Christine Hodgson said Allan's "strategic insight, capital allocation experience and public markets background will further strengthen the board as we continue to execute our strategic priorities and deliver against our new five-year plan".

Whitbread also said Horst Baier will step down from the board on October 1 after serving for six-and-a-half years.

Shares in Whitbread were down 3.1% at 2,380.00 pence in London on Thursday morning, while Land Securities shares were 0.1% higher at 701.50p.
