IN BRIEF: Symphony Environmental reports "much stronger" first half

Symphony Environmental Technologies PLC - Hertfordshire, England-based biodegradable plastic technology developer - Reports results for the first half of 2026. Revenue grows 23% to £3.6 million from £2.9 million. Pretax profit is £55,000, flipped from a £503,000 loss. Gross profit increases to £2.1 million from £1.5 million, with the margin increasing to 59% from 51%. Symphony says it maintained commercial momentum across its technology portfolio, noting further full-container NbR orders and repeat orders for the d2p AI insecticidal technology. Results follow Symphony's announcement on Tuesday that independent test results for its d2p Ethylene Adsorber 'EA' active packaging technology have strengthened its evidence base, and that it has delivered its first commercial container-load to Sirane Central Americana in Mexico. Testing found that d2p EA reduced ethylene concentrations by 16.8% to 46.7%, compared with 0.8% to 4.0% for the conventional polyethylene packaging. Looking ahead, Chief Executive Michael Laurier on Wednesday says Symphony enters the second half with "a more robust foundation from which to build performance through the remainder of the year and beyond," and that it expects to be "in a stronger financial position at the year end and to be better positioned for sustained growth beyond 2026."

"H1-2026 has been an important period of progress for Symphony, with the Group delivering a much stronger set of results and clear evidence that the strategic and operational actions taken during 2025 are now translating into improved performance," comments Chair Nicolas Clavel. Adds: "Our priority for the remainder of 2026 is to convert this stronger operating base into sustained profitability and growth."
